Color Of The Month - July

July - A month to relax, take breaks, and discount a little from the busy, fast-paced world. This month give up something that is taking up too much of your time, to really focus on your goals. Plan a trip where you can forget about anything that overwhelms you and connect with nature and the fresh air.

July Color of the Month - Serenity Blue

Light Blue - a feeling of peace, serenity, & spiritual connection. The color of a summer sky and soothing ocean, light blue lets us focus on a calm and blissful month.

This month I have decided to talk a quick break from my business social media to focus more on my clients work as well as taking a bit more of personal time with friends and family. As a small business owner, we can get caught up in trying to be perfect at #allthethings when in reality we really need to focus on a select few. I have been working very hard the past few months on my client management software, project management tools, social media including Instagram, Facebook & Pinterest, my bookkeeping, learning new skills, taking courses, networking, and so much more. I'm sure you can relate! I've decided to learn to manage a few things at a time, this month focusing on my client management software & advancing my Wordpress design knowledge.

What time consuming tasks can you take a break from in order to better yourself and your business? Let's slow down, one step at a time!

Does multitasking keep you constantly busy but never feeling like you are actually achieving your goals?

Do less to focus on more! Here are some helpful ideas to becoming more productive:
  1. Minimize the tasks you set aside in your day and start tackling each task with complete focus. Tackle one project at a time with complete focus. Keep your focus and you’ll complete your task more quickly, with less mistakes. Make a list and stick to it. Give yourself a realistic timeline and always include hardest tasks first!

  2. Create a peaceful workspace. Whether you are working at home or in an office, add personal touches to your workspace that make you want to reach your goals and keep you feeling relaxed. Add inspirational quotes, your favorite photos of family, friends, especially your pets! Add cute plants and decorations that make you smile. Make sure your space is always neat and clean to help the flow of creativity.

  3. Take a quick break every hour. This sounds hard, but you can't keep going for hours at a time or you'll burn out! Set your phone's alarm to go off and put your phone at the edge of your desk face down. This will ensure less time on your phone instead of doing your tasks, as well as give you some built in time for a break - where if you want to spend 10 minutes scrolling on Instagram you can! Make a cup of coffee or tea, read a blog post, watch a youtube video, take a quick stretch and get back to work.

  4. Automate your work where you can. Figure out which tasks are taking away time from your day and automate them! If it takes you an hour to answer emails, take some time and create generic email responses to save where you can just quickly adjust according to your project. Use a scheduler if you are constantly emailing trying to pick a date for a meeting, going back and fourth through email. Try using a project management system like Asana that will mark when tasks are complete and give deadlines/timelines for when tasks are due, so you don't have to go back into that email and figure it out!

This month, take a step back, breathe, focus on fewer tasks and excel at those tasks that you do work on!
